Development Engineer - Intermediate

  • Description:The Development Engineer Intermediate will be responsible for design crash avoidance packaging to ensure the vehicle is compliant to vehicle safety regulations Engineer to review vehicle tree drawings, supplier CAE analysis results and virtual engineering crash simulation results iteratively for all crash modes. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Provide feedback for design robustness.
  • Track and convey issues discovered.
  • Maintain the product book for all electrified programs for safety and compliance items.
  • Document best practices will be updated for Company’s internal continuous improvement.
  • Engineer in this position shall provide required technical assessment to management and the vehicle teams to assure successful and timely implementation of the safety requirements.
  • Facilitate creation of safety procedures, such as first responder’s guide, power up and power procedures, service procedures.
  • Engineer is required to be familiar with safety regulations, safety feature implementation, packaging constraints and vehicle level CAD drawings.
  • Work with powertrain Center of Excellence team and HV safety subsystem team to ensure best practice design features and processes are implemented for manufacturing, assembly, reliability and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Material Engineering from an ABET accredited, or ABET equivalent university
  • 2+ years of experience in product engineering design and development, with emphasis on systems and product development.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of development tools and techniques such as Value and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, design for manufacture, design for assembly and design for service
  • Have experience in working with suppliers to ensure that best practices and lesson learned are implemented in the component design & document these for company’s internal continuous improvements
  • Familiar with Geometric dimensioning and tolerance of the drawing
  • Familiar with CAD drawings
  • Familiar with basic mechanical engineering fundamentals related to the design, stress analysis, materials etc.
  • Have at least basic knowledge of connector engineering
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Coordinate activities with cross functional teams
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple task.
  • Master's degree, as accredited by ABET or ABET equivalent; other graduate level technical degrees in the specific area of relevant specialty expertise
  • Great knowledge of electrification technology, functionality and features on the system level
  • Familiar with FMVSS305 and ECEr100 regulations
  • Review and provide feedback on the component mechanical durability and fatigue analysis to suppliers for design robustness.
  • Familiar and have understanding of casting materials, processes especially high pressure die casting, mold flow simulations & validation testing.
  • knowledge of fluid engineering such as coolant flow pressure drop simulations
  • Knowledge of power electronics systems and HEV & BEV experience
  • Additional Information/ Must Have's:
    • Must have CAD ability,
    • Must know about Team Center and know how to use it,
    • Good communicator able to convey ideas to people who hold different opinions than you document all open point list and update packaging details and score cards
    • Remote / Hybrid - Will be traveling to CTC 10%-20% - Meetings and come to the garage to see the vehicles or issues.
