Description
- The Development Engineer - Intermediate for Transmission, Driveline & Gear Reducer is responsible for analyzing, developing, and validating Transmission & Driveline Systems and subsystems. Work closely with Chief Engineering, Product Release Center and Vehicle synthesis engineering organizations to provide efficiency simulations, support the development of and coordinate the measurement validation of the systems/subsystems. The Development Engineer is responsible for continuous refinement of simulation models. The Engineer will provide official releases in a well-defined format and with strict change management processes for use by fuel/energy economy simulation organizations. The Engineer will work with various testing facilities and outside suppliers to execute bench measurements. Additionally, the engineer will perform cooling and heat rejection analyses and communicate simulation results with associated aerothermal engineering teams. The Engineer may be asked to contribute to component lubrication analyses and simulations to optimize the balance of efficiency, performance, durability/reliability & cost.
Requirements
- Please note, would be beneficial to be within a commuting distance to the Windsor ARDC office. Candidate will travel there 20% - 40% with the remainder of the work being remote. Please put GPA on resume.
- B.S. Mechanical, Aero or equivalent Engineering Degree
- 3-5 years of engineering experience in Automatic Transmission/Driveline/Electrified Powertrain hardware
- A high level understanding of transmission & driveline operation and the interaction between pumps, gears, clutches, motors and electrohydraulic actuation systems is desired
- Must have excellent communication and presentation skills as well as experience with basic PC software (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)
- Candidate must be highly motivated, self-directed, have the ability to manage multiple complex projects, and have a positive attitude.
- Must be able to demonstrate at least a moderate skill level with Matlab or equivalent.
- Master’s degree in Engineering and/or have experience in transmission and/or driveline design, development, and testing Preferred.
- Experience with propulsion system efficiency and/or thermal management is preferred
- Experience with transmission & driveline efficiency testing procedures, on bench or in vehicle is preferred
